Solar Explained

Solar Explained

The Sun powers our planet.  Every day it bathes us in 10,000 times more energy that we consume.  Just an hour's worth of sun power could electrify our world for a year.  Our monitoring system, SolarTrak, is the world’s first smart software platform that monitors your system's performance to ensure that it is delivering the best possible savings.

Grants and Consents

It is a requirement of every local authority in New Zealand that you obtain a building consent if you are installing a solar system.

If you are building a new home, then that consent can be “bundled” with your general building consent and normally won’t attract any extra fees.  If you are fitting solar to an existing home (retro-fitting) then you will need to apply for a consent.  Some Councils, like Nelson City Council, do not charge any fees for going solar.

Local Authorities perform an important role and they are primarily concerned with two aspects of the installation – roof penetrations and the connection to your plumbing system.

We have a close working relationship with many of the local and national regulatory authorities and will manage the consent process on your behalf.
