Marlborough Pilot Scheme

Marlborough Pilot

In partnership with the Marlborough District Council we are excited to bring the solar hot water pilot study to the Marlborough district. We welcome your input and participation.

About 29% of energy consumed by an average home is used to heat water. By installing a solar hot water heating system you can cut this energy use by around 75% and generate a $450 tax free cash saving for an average family every year.

The Marlborough District Council is considering introducing a solar saver scheme to provide financing to homeowners to help them go solar. As part of the initiative we are working with the Marlborough District Council to assess public support for solar in the region and pilot a new solar monitoring system designed to improve the performance and savings generated by solar hot water systems. The initiative is being supported with financing from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA)and the Tindall Foundation. Along with your Council we are interested to know what you think about Marlborough becoming a solar city. Please take the time to fill in this Marlborough Questionnaire to have your say.

As part of the initiative we will launch a pilot scheme in Marlborough to gauge public support for the initiative and install monitored solar hot water systems on 20 homes and 5 businesses across your region. Please use the button to the right: if you are a business interested in participating in the pilot scheme. If you are a home owner interested in participating in the pilot scheme you will be able to book your home assessment soon.

The climate is heating up faster than predicted and some scientists believe we have only four years left to avert serious environmental damage from climate change.  You can make a difference today.

Along with your Council we would like to know what you think about becoming a solar city. Please take the time to fill in this questionnaire to register your opinion.
