Our story

solarcity is New Zealand's leading solar energy services company. In the past 35 years we have installed more solar on Kiwi homes and businesses than any other business.

Who we are

solarcity has been around since the early days of the solar industry. Founded in 1981, we've been part of the evolution that has made solar the attractive investment it is today. And, along the way, we’ve won multiple awards for innovation and excellence.

We are one of the five fastest growing green companies in New Zealand and are part of the government's Focus 500 group of companies that make a significant contribution to the New Zealand economy.  solarcity is 100% New Zealand owned and operated. We are financially backed by Sir Stephen Tindall's K1W1 investment through the nation's oldest private equity fund, Pencarrow PE.

Our engineering team provide world class consultancy and engineering services to architects, builders, governments and other solar companies.

What's more, we're in it for the long haul. This isn't just our business, it's our mission. Our commitment to making solar accessible is deep-rooted and long term, and our solidly established business is growing steadily.
