Vector has announced they will not be charging homeowners a Distributed Generation (DG) fee when they switch their day-tim power generation to solar. Vector writes "solar is a nascent industry in New Zealand and Vector wishes to support it, not add additional costs to it."
This is great news for Vector customers wanting to go solar, as earlier this year the lines company announced it would be charging homeowners a one-off fee to connect their solar system to the grid. With this no longer the case, we say bravo to them for seeing the vision of getting the country on sustainable energy as fast as possible.
Oh, and before you jump online, nascent means 'just coming into existence and beginning to display signs of future potential' e.g. the nascent space industry, fancy huh?
