9 out of 10 Kiwis say power prices are too high

Power prices have been in the news a lot recently, especially as Kiwis have struggled to pay the costs of staying warm this winter.

One story, in particular, captured the mood of the nation revealing that 9 out of 10 Kiwis believe electricity prices are too high and that over half feel they are getting an unfair deal from their retailer.

That survey reflected what we found when we talked to people in Auckland about power prices last month. We asked them a number of questions including if they were concerned by how much they were paying for power each month and if their rates had been reduced recently. You can see how they answered in part 2 of a short video series we’re producing.

The moral of the story is Kiwi are looking for ways to reduce their energy costs.

For many homeowners, our solarZero energy service is the perfect solution as it provides cleaner, cheaper and more reliable power. As it’s a service there are zero costs for the solar panels and battery. And, by fixing up to two-thirds of your power costs at the same low price for 20 years you can save thousands of dollars. It’s worth noting that, since 1998, New Zealand power prices have more than doubled. Also, our power prices have increased at a much faster rate than in other countries surveyed by the International Energy Agency.
