How much of what I pay will now be fixed?

Approximately 80% of your home’s energy use is now fixed. Up to two thirds of your power supplied by the solarZero service is covered by your fixed solarZero energy services fee. We will provide a price protection cap of 8c/kWh on the net price of energy you pay each month (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST). This will be reflected in your power bill from our providers Pulse Energy or Ecotricity – exclusive to solarZero customers.

How is the price protection cap calculated?

We will provide a price protection cap of 8c/kWh on the net price of energy you pay each month (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST). This price protection will apply for the remaining term of the agreement. For example: Imported energy 500 kWh @ 11c/kWh Exported energy 50 KWh @ 13c/kWH Net energy used = 450kWh Net energy cost = $48.50 Cost of net energy at 8c/kWh = $36 solarZero Price Protection Credit = $12.50

Does this apply for the entire October billing period?

Yes. The price protection cap of 8c/kWh on the net price of energy (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST) is applied from 1st October 2019.

What costs on my power bilI are now fixed?

The solarZero energy service portion of your power bill is fixed and you pay a monthly fee as part of your service agreement. We will provide a price protection cap of 8c/kWh on the net price of energy you pay each month (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST). As a solarZero customer the combination of a fixed monthly fee for solar, and the net price for energy means that up to 80% of your power needs are provided to you at below current market prices.

Why does it show 11c/kWh and 13c/kWh on my power bill when it should be 8c/kWh?

Your Ecotricity or Pulse Energy invoice will show a price protection cap 8c/kWh on the net price of energy (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST) on the front payment page of the invoice, and the itemised page will show the variable energy pricing you would have been charged depending on the wholesale market cost at the time of usage. The difference is the discount you receive with the cost for this usage being applied at the net price of 8c/kWh (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST).

What happens if the wholesale market price is less than 8c/kWh?

In some months the average wholesale price can be less than 8c/kWh (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST), in some hours of the day the price can even be $0. If the average monthly price is less than 8c/kWh (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST) that is what you will pay. The 8c/kWh net price on energy (plus applicable lines or network charges and GST) applies only where the average price is higher.

Does this affect my network charges?

solarcity has no control over the network charges in your area. These will differ depending on where your home is located and your local network company. These charges are included in the overall cost/savings analysis we conduct when assessing your home for solarZero and the estimated savings on your power bill.

After I have signed my contract you resize the system and my estimated savings increase?

Your estimated savings will increase in year one, this is because you are purchasing more grid energy at our exclusive price protected rates. Over the 20 years, these savings decrease as the more solar power you have on your roof the more you will benefit from rising power prices.
